Speak Low: Bringing to life the extraordinary relationship and creativity of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya
Set against the collapse of Weimar Germany, the rise of facism, and the couple’s reinvention in America, this music drama traces the intertwined lives of composer Kurt Weill and singer Lotte Lenya. Their songs, at once seductive, biting, tender and defiant, gave voice to outsiders, dreamers, and rebels at a moment when art itself was under threat.
